Beautiful Desert

This ongoing illustration series inspired by the beauty around me in my new home of Tucson, Arizona, can be seen below, and, if you’re interested, you can also visit my Threadless shop where you can buy countless items with these illustrations on them.

This illustration is based on a regular visitor to our back yard. He’s a Southwestern Fence Lizard we’ve named Jack LaLanne because he does so many push-ups!

And, speaking of jacks, here’s a jackrabbit with his comically large ears, ready to run while a red-tailed hawk wheels overhead.

This cute quail family frequented our backyard for a month or so. We enjoyed the chicks because they looked like little punk rockers with their mohawked heads.

Also known as “stink pigs,” this sassy little javelina family is out enjoying the desert landscape which includes flowering ocotillos overhead and purple prickly pear in the foreground.

My favorite cactus here in Tucson is the anthropomorphic saguaro. These impressive giants are incredibly old and no two are alike. They also serve as high rise homes to many birds, including this cactus wren.
